Honda Servicing FAQ

here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions we get about servicing and repairing a Honda vehicle

How often should I service my Honda?

At 7,500 – 22,500 – 37,500 – 52,500 – 67,500 – 82,500 miles, you'll need to check and replace fluids, have an oil and filter change, inspect tire treads, check tire pressure, rotate tires, perform a brake inspection, and lubricate throttle linkage.

What is routine maintenance on a Honda?

  • Check oil and coolant at each fuel stop
  • Every 7,500 miles: Rotate tires (check tire inflation and condition at least once per month)
  • Every 7,500 miles or 12 months: Replace engine oil
  • At 30,000 miles: Inspect valve clearance

When should the timing belt be changed on a Honda?

The general timeline you'll want to follow is to replace your timing belt anywhere between 60,000 and 100,000 miles however it is best to keep up your regular servicing and your Repco Authorised mechanic will advise when and if this is required.

All 2006 and newer Civic models don't have a belt. They come with a timing chain, which does not need to be replaced. So, if you are looking for a 2019 Honda Civic timing belt, for example, you'll find that it is actually equipped with a timing chain.

What percentage oil life should I change it?

As an added reminder, your Honda Maintenance Minder System will display a yellow wrench icon once the 15% threshold is reached. This does not mean the car is unsafe to drive. It simply means that the oil has degraded to such an extent that a change will be needed soon to keep the engine running properly.

Is Honda oil life accurate?

The Oil Life Monitor is fairly accurate and is often more conservative than it needs to be. Therefore, if the regular oil changes are set up for 7,000 miles and the indicator is saying you can go longer, it's probably just due to you changing the way you drive or where you are traveling.
